The AIM for CHangE Program is supported by the FY2019 High Obesity Program Grant DP18-1809 from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The community action grant engages communities in coalition-building to create sustainable policy, systems and environment changes (PSE) that prevent and reduce obesity. Our work prioritizes the counties with an adult obesity rate of 40% or greater including Sharkey, Washington, Issaquena, Sunflower, Humphreys, Holmes, Leflore, Quitman, Noxubee, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis and Claiborne. As of November 2020, there are 58 ongoing projects within these projects that work with food pantries, community gardens, physical activity and built environment opportunities and more. The Mississippi State University Extension Team that leads this program leverages support from local, State and National entities including the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), Mississippi Public Health Institute, Mississippi Farm to Schools Network and other key institutions.
